But the advantage of doing file manipulation copy/delete/move using file station, is because the operation is done internally so it can be done quicker (which is best if you are doing this for a lot of files/folders at once). Personally i feel more comfortable interacting using windows 11 file explorer. To access this, open a web browser, enter the nas ip:8080 and login, then browse to file station, and from there you can browse the files/folder and delete as u want from there. The other method for accessing your QNAP files/folders is via the QNAP QTS web UI and specifically it's file station app. You can do this 1 at a time, or shift + mouse select to select a bunch and click delete. Then you just select the files or folders and click delete. You probably know basic computing yes? if so, then the share you access from windows basically opens the file explorer showing the contents of that share that contains files/folders. When accessing the shares from your desktop pc (windows 11), this uses smb file explorer. So anyway those are the basics, now i can tell you how to delete files on your NAS. Or go to credential manager and add your nas lan ip and the credentials for it and save. Usually when you try to access the share the first time it will prompt your for credentials before allowing access, so you just input your credential details. Usually people do this method if, an application on your desktop pc, requires a letter drive path for r/w access (probably a steam gaming library comes to mind)īut depending on your credential settings, you may need to sort that out first before you can login to your nas shares. this basically gives your share on the NAS a drive letter. using qfinder, you can setup a mounted letter drive for accessing your nas. in windows 11 network discovery, you may be able to detect your nas, and from there double click on it to access the NAS and the shares will be listedģ. If you use DHCP, i just u replace that and use a static ip instead, so your NAS lan ip becomes a fixed lan ip and doesn't change all the timeĢ. If you don't know the lan ip of your nas, download qfinder app from qnap and it will detect the lan ip for you. Or instead of that put the lan ip for the nas also works replace AINZ for your own NAS device name. create a short cut pointing to the share of your nas. There a few ways to access the nas at this pointġ. To interact with the share, normally you access them using a client device e.g. So usually when we are discussing about browsing/searching/copy/cut/delete/moving, this is usually stuff done on the shares where those files/folders reside in. During this step you can also setup your permission rights for which account is allowed to access the shares. ![]() then create a share on that volume (once u do this part, you can then procede to begin storing your files/folders). Yes your NAS usually has hard drive populated inside it.īut to place data such as files and folders onto the nas, those hard drives have to be setup first for exampleĢ. I search for the files/folder in the NAS, which finds them, but I can't then select them to remove or delete them.įrom your phrasing and question, i take your a newbie?
